CHESHIRE
I first started training in martial arts at the age of ten, in a traditional style called Shotokan Karate. I trained under Sensei Frank Cope (7th Dan) for many years taking my KUGB Kyu grades, eventually gaining my Japanese Karate Association Black Belt in September 1982 at the age of seventeen under the legendary martial artist Sensei Keinosuke Enoeda (9th Dan) at the Lancaster University Summer course. I also started training at the Red Triangle Club in Liverpool with the likes of Terry O’Neil, Andy Sherry and the Brennan brothers. During this period I would also help instruct at one of Frank Cope clubs on the Wirral.
In my early twenties I studied Wing Chun Kung Fu and then Jeet Kune Do for a couple of years.
In September 2009 I met Lee Matthews, and being really impressed with his vision for Martial Arts I took the L2 course in the October of that year.
By the end of January 2010 I had opened my first Lee Matthews Black Belt Academy Club in Handbridge, Chester.
In the June 2010 I opened my second club in Huntington, Chester.
January 2011 the third Chester club opened in Upton, Chester.
In November 2011, Ben Sawney and Oliver Bradley ( both members of my Handbridge Club) along with Myself were chosen to fight in the WMKF World Championships in Italy as members of the English team.
